A Day at the Beach for Gazas Autistic Children "ConflictWatch Feed Palestine"

Many autistic children participated in the camp and its many activities, including drawing, building sand castles, and learning how to swim.

A summer camp dedicated to autistic people was held on the Gaza beach on Sunday.

Many autistic children participated in the camp and its many activities, including drawing, building sand castles, and learning how to swim.

Several swimming coaches volunteered to teach the children how to overcome their fear of the water.

Other volunteers helped in the various activities, bringing much joy to the young participants.

The Gaza Strip has been living under a hermetic Israeli siege since 2006.

This has resulted in numerous hardships including a lack of well-equipped medical facilities and even life-saving medicine.

Most of Gazas population has never been allowed to leave the besieged and impoverished Strip, not even to the better-equipped hospitals in the West Bank.

But the Gaza Sea continues to serve as an outlet, bringing joy to many communities that continue to reel under the impact of the Israeli blockade and many deadly wars.

In Photos, a Palestinian Familys Daily Quest for Water "ConflictWatch Feed Palestine"

Palestinians living in the village of Umm Al-Naser in the northern Gaza Strip, walk long distances to reach places where water is available.

It is not easy to obtain water in the village of Umm Al-Naser in the northern Gaza Strip.

There is simply no running water in this place, hosting one of Gazas poorest populations.

So to obtain water, especially during extremely hot weather, which is felt throughout much of the Middle East, in fact, the world, people here simply have to travel.

They walk long distances, on foot, or on donkey carts, to reach places where water is available.

Once they fill up small water containers for cooking and tea, the kids bathe and enjoy themselves almost unaware of their own hardship.

The Palestine Chronicle joined a family from Umm Al-Nasr in its daily quest for water.

This journey highlights the problem of water shortage in Palestine due to the Israeli siege and occupation.

It also highlights the unequal distribution of water facilities, which neglects isolated and impoverished areas.

And finally, it highlights the resilience of Palestinian families and the innocence of their children, who found joy in things most people take for granted; for example, water.

The exhibition included works of art that were engraved and hand-printed, archaeological landmarks in the Gaza Strip, and postage stamps used in Palestine during previous eras.

Palestinian artists in the Gaza Strip held a fine art exhibition that simulates the history of Gaza City and its archaeological sites.

Twenty-eight artists participated in the exhibition, entitled Fragments of the City, which was held inside the French Cultural Center west of Gaza.

The exhibition included works of art that were engraved and hand-printed, archaeological landmarks in the Gaza Strip, and postage stamps used in Palestine during previous eras.

Among those landmarks are the Great Omari Mosque in Gaza City, Al-Sayyid Hashem Mosque in Al-Daraj neighborhood, Barquq Castle in Khan Yunis, the historic Al-Zawiya market, and other works that embody the history of the Gaza Strip.

We are displaying more than 100 works of art by 28 male and female artists who have completed their works using the technique of engraving and printing. Mohamed Al-Hajj, a local artist said.

With these works, we are trying to animate Gazas past along with the Strips archaeological monuments, he added.

Through art, we are trying to inform the world that the Gaza Strip contains archaeological sites and has great historical value.
