The exhibition included works of art that were engraved and hand-printed, archaeological landmarks in the Gaza Strip, and postage stamps used in Palestine during previous eras.

Palestinian artists in the Gaza Strip held a fine art exhibition that simulates the history of Gaza City and its archaeological sites.

Twenty-eight artists participated in the exhibition, entitled Fragments of the City, which was held inside the French Cultural Center west of Gaza.

The exhibition included works of art that were engraved and hand-printed, archaeological landmarks in the Gaza Strip, and postage stamps used in Palestine during previous eras.

Among those landmarks are the Great Omari Mosque in Gaza City, Al-Sayyid Hashem Mosque in Al-Daraj neighborhood, Barquq Castle in Khan Yunis, the historic Al-Zawiya market, and other works that embody the history of the Gaza Strip.

We are displaying more than 100 works of art by 28 male and female artists who have completed their works using the technique of engraving and printing. Mohamed Al-Hajj, a local artist said.

With these works, we are trying to animate Gazas past along with the Strips archaeological monuments, he added.

Through art, we are trying to inform the world that the Gaza Strip contains archaeological sites and has great historical value.

Ayman al-Ghazal is one of the most famous in Gaza. His eldest son, Zakaria, stands beside his dad to help him.

Ayman al-Ghazali, 43, also known as Abu Zakaria is the owner of Abu Zakarias Stall selling lupines and beans in Gaza City.

He is one of the most famous in Gaza. His eldest son, Zakaria, stands beside his dad to help him.

This little stall takes care of a family of 5. It has done so for the last 20 years.

To prepare his products for the markets, it takes Abu Zakaria three days. Thats how long it takes for lupines known here as turmos to be soaked, boiled, salted and ready to be eaten.

As for the beans, he grills them in an oven. When cooked, Abu Zakaria decorates his small platters with lemon and parsley.

Abu Zakaria inherited this job from his father.

This job doesnt make one rich, but it may conceal his impoverishment, Abu Zakaria told the Palestine Chronicle. He smiles as he tends to a new customer.

The man looked tired. He complained about pain in his knees and headaches from standing under the sun for a long time.

There are over two million Palestinians living in Gaza, 65 percent of whom live under the poverty line.

Unemployment in the besieged Strip is one of the highest in the world due to the ongoing Israeli blockade.

According to United Nations estimates, more than 60 percent of Gazas workforce is unemployed.

Fun in Gaza as Collective Therapy for Traumatized Children (PHOTOS) "ConflictWatch Feed Palestine"

Though summer camps and activities are common for children in many parts of the world, these activities are particularly urgent in Gaza.

UNRWAS Summer Fun Weeks is officially open in Gaza, bringing together thousands of children from across the besieged Strip.

Though summer camps and activities are common for children in many parts of the world, these activities are particularly urgent in Gaza, as children here suffer immeasurable hardships and trauma due to Israels repeated wars.

The last major Israeli military operation in Gaza took place between May 9 and 13.

According to UNRWA, Summer Fun Weeks have been instituted particularly because of this, giving the children, including many children with special needs, the rare opportunity to be part of something exciting and positive.

The activities are scheduled to take place between July 8 and August 3.

It is expected to engage more than 130,000 children, according to UNRWA.

MK expelled from Knesset for condemning Israel invasion of Jenin "ConflictWatch Feed Israel"

MEMO | July 14, 2023

The Hadash-Taal lists Chairman, Ayman Odeh, was forced out of the Knesset plenary last week during a vote on the Counterterrorism Law after condemning the Israeli attack on the Palestinian refugee camp of Jenin.

He said: People killed in Jenin. People wounded in Tel Aviv. A killed soldier. All of their blood is because of your damned occupation. Occupation blinds you. Power blinds you. You are not only acting like occupiers, you are acting like idiots.

His speech came just days after Israel concluded its largest military operation in Jenin in more than 20 years. At least 12 Palestinians were killed, including four children, and more than 140 were injured in the offensive, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The raid also left a massive trail of destruction across the West Bank city, with dozens of homes, vehicles, shops and utility lines destroyed.

Every action has a reaction. These are the rules of nature, added Odeh. Theres a reaction to the occupation, so there will be resistance. Resisting against occupation is legal. Occupation is illegal. Long live the Jenin! Long live the Palestinian people! Long live their resistance! Shame on you! Take me down!  But the Palestinian people will continue to fight!

In response, Almog Cohen from the far-right Otzma Yehudit Party, shouted: The blood of those murdered is on your hands; go to Gaza. The more terrorists we kill, the better.

It all came amidst the approval of the Counterterrorism Law, which specifies that anybody who expresses support for terrorists may face up to five years in prison.

Religious Zionist Party MK Zvi Sukkot introduced the bill to stop the probability test that is required today due to the seriousness of expressing solidarity or sympathy for an act of terror or its perpetrators.

Following MK Odehs criticism against the Israeli invasion of Jenin, Sukkot appealed to the Ethics Committee of the Knesset, Israel Police, and the Attorney General to open an investigation against the MK for expressing his support for the residents of Jenin.

Weekend long read "ConflictWatch Feed Palestine"

1) MEMRI reports on a recent spat between the Palestinian Authority and Al Jazeera.

Fatah and PA spokespersons accused Al-Jazeera of waging a campaign of incitement and slander against the PA in the service of Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. The PAs clash with Al-Jazeera came to a head when  Nabil Abu Rudeineh, the PAs presidency spokesperson and information minister, sent a letter to the Al-Jazeera management threatening legal measures against the network. Articles in the PA press slammed Al-Jazeera, accusing it of serving the agenda of the Muslim Brotherhood, Islamist elements and Qatar and seeking to spark internal wars throughout the Arab and Islamic world.

2) At the National Interest, Rany Ballout introduces a new Hizballah media channel.

Confrontational and often accusatory, Al-Mahatta, a Lebanese YouTube channel, is emerging as a de facto digital mouthpiece for Hezbollah. Its aim is to consolidate its influence by gaining a broader digital audience while continuing to cater to its well-established constituency in Lebanon.

The success of this channel should come as no surprise, as many members of Al-Mahattas team are either originally from or still affiliated with Al Akhbara Beirut-based, daily leftist Arabic newspaper widely regarded as a mouthpiece for Hezbollah.

BBCs Bateman misleads on location of PFLP shooting attack "ConflictWatch Feed Israel"

On July 7th a report by the BBC Jerusalem bureaus Tom Bateman appeared on the BBC News websites Middle East page.

Despite the fact that the opening paragraph of that report informs readers that it concerns two Palestinian militants, the BBC nevertheless chose to airbrush that terror context out of its headline: Nablus: Two Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in West Bank.

Readers are told that:

Two Palestinian militants have been shot dead by Israeli forces during a raid in the occupied West Bank, as tensions surge in the region.

On Friday morning locals reported hearing heavy gunfire as Israeli troops surrounded a house in Nablus.

The men killed have been named locally as Khayri Shahin, 34, and Hamze Maqbool, 32.

Israel said they were wanted gunmen who fired on their forces before they could be detained.

Notwithstanding the BBCs long-standing refusal to describe Palestinian terrorism as such in its own words, Bateman had no qualms about promoting the talking points of a terrorist organisation proscribed by the UK:

The Palestinian militant group Hamas described the men as heroes of the resistance and accused Israel of terrorism. [emphasis added]

Readers are later told that:

Recycling Plastic in Gaza as a Means of Survival (PHOTOS) "ConflictWatch Feed Palestine"

Many children in Gaza work full-time doing this kind of job. They tell us that it is exhausting, has no future, and is hardly rewarding.

Akram al-Hadaf is an 18-year-old teenager from the town of Beit Lahiya, in the northern Gaza Strip.

Like many in his generation, he had to join the workforce to support his family.

Thanks to Israels hermetic siege on Gaza, the small region has one of the highest rates of unemployment and poverty in the world.

Akrams job is to collect and sell plastic to those who are able to recycle them for possible reuse.

He wakes up very early in the morning and spends most of the day visiting Gazas many dumping grounds, looking for plastic, which he sells at the end of each day.

Akram told the Palestine Chronicle that his daily income averages about 15 shekels a day (about $4).

Many children in Gaza work full-time doing this kind of job. They tell us that it is exhausting, has no future, and is hardly rewarding.

However, it is enough, they say, to put food on the table.

Gazas poverty has historically been linked to the Israeli occupation.

The last twenty years, however, have been particularly difficult, as Israel has imposed a very tight siege on Gaza.

That, and the repeated Israeli wars, have made life in Gaza very difficult, if at all bearable.

Akram and his friends, however, have no other option but to do whatever they can to ensure the very survival of their families.

Israeli illegal settler faces 'terrorism' charges over West Bank mosque vandalism "ConflictWatch Feed Palestine"

Israelis are rarely punished for crimes committed against Palestinians, particularly in the occupied West Bank. Israeli prosecutors have filed charges related to "terrorism" against a Jewish settler accused of vandalising a mosque as part of anti-Palestinian rampages in the occupied West Bank last month, which drew a rare demand from the United States for accountability. The spree of vandalism and arson by hundreds of settlers in several villages and towns followed the June 20 killing of four Israelis by Hamas gunmen, which in turn was a response to a deadly Israeli raid on the Jenin refugee camp that killed seven Palestinians and wounded more than 90 others. At least one man was killed in the village of Turmus Ayya. Many of the Palestinians who lost property in the subsequent settler rampage were US dual nationals.
