Palms The Legend: Who Authorized This Monstrosity? "IndyWatch Feed World"

The Archaeological Site of Nahr el-Kalb has on Lebanons Tentative List for potential future World Heritage nomination since 2019 yet the Lebanese authorities dont seem too adamant to include it. Instead, they somehow authorized a local party to build its headquarters right on top of the Nahr el Kalb mountain where all the historical monuments are, and to make things worse, allowed the construction of a humongous music venue right in the middle of the river.

The venue is called Palms the Legend and consists of a 1250 square meters construction blocking the majority of the riverbed and causing environmental damages to its surrounding, from noise pollution to air pollution from fireworks and traffic jams.

Unfortunately, we cant blame them as they are allowed legally to operate and they even claim they are not causing any environmental harm. Even more, they issued a statement inviting environmental and geological experts to assess the venues impact on the environment.

Once again, the real blame is on the concerned ministries who should do their due diligence by inviting experts to assess the venues environmental impact and take the necessary measures accordingly. Until then, the Lebanese people dont seem too bothered by the situation. Who cares about anything as long were partying right?

Separatist Attack Kills 10 in Northwestern Cameroon, Regional Governor Says

BY EDWIN KINDZEKA MOKI

10:18 AM EDT, July 17, 2023

YAOUNDE, Cameroon (AP) Armed separatists wearing military uniforms killed 10 civilians and wounded three in an attack at a crowded intersection in Cameroons volatile northwest, the regional governor said on Monday.

The killings took place on Sunday in Bamenda, the regions capital, according to the governor, Debben Tchoffo. The victims included a couple of newlyweds, he said. Eight people died at the scene and two more later in hospital.

For the past six years, the protracted armed conflict known as the Anglophone crisis has devastated communities across Cameroons two English-speaking regions, officially called Northwest and Southwest, as armed separatists clash with government forces.

Following a crackdown on peaceful protests in 2016, armed rebel groups mobilized and vowed to fight for the independence of the Anglophone areas, which they call Ambazonia.

Human Rights Watch estimates that as of 2022, at least 4,000 civilians have died and more than 700,000 were displaced by the violence.

The governor said the attackers behind Sundays killings were trying to create panic among civilians who have been collaborating with the military by reporting suspected separatists. Tchoffo said a search was underway for the attackers.

Supporters of the two sides traded accusations for the killings on social media. A video from the scene shows bodies of those killed lying on the ground as passersby look on, many taking photos with their smartphones. Some were crying.

The Associated Press could not independently verify the authenticity of the video though Tchoffo confirmed the video was from the scene of Sundays attack.

UK intelligence freelancers helped Ukraine target Crimean Bridge "IndyWatch Feed War"

RT | July 21, 2023

Ukraines drone attack on the Kerch Bridge was most likely planned by former British military intelligence agents who signed a contract with Kiev in 2022, the independent outlet Grayzone has reported citing leaked documents.

A cabal of British military-intelligence freelancers led by Chris Donnelly has worked with the Odessa office of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) since April last year, Grayzone said in a report published Wednesday evening. The outlet had published leaked documents proving their partnership in October 2022, after the first attack on the Crimean Bridge.

A review of leaked files previously revealed by The Grayzone provides a solid basis for again blaming Donnellys cabal, the outlet noted in reference to Mondays drone attack that killed two civilians and orphaned a 14-year-old girl.

Donnelly is described as a senior intelligence operative and former high ranking NATO advisor. He is allegedly using a transnational nexus involving companies such as Prevail Partners and Thomas in Winslow, to manage Londons contribution to the proxy war at arms length.

The two companies signed a technical support agreement with the Odessa branch of the SBU in April 2022, according to Grayzone, which included the use of surveillance drones to monitor coastline and Russian movement and access to satellite imagery to assist military and black operations.

A geospatial intelligence specialist at Prevail provided the SBU with a presentation titled Kerch Bridge info pack, which laid out various plans to blow up the bridge built in 2018 to connect Crimea to the Krasnodar Region on the Russian mainland.

One speculative plot involved detonating a vessel containing ammonia nitrate directly under the bridge, according to Grayzone. The proposal approvingly cited as an example to emulate the August 2020 explosion in Beirut, which killed at least 214 people and devastated the Lebanese capital.

According to Grayzone, the British advisers have also provided Kiev with assistance in targeting alleged Russian collaborators in territories under Ukraines control. Anton Gerashchenko, an advisor to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, boasted to Western media in October 2022 that intelligence services were shooting them like pigs.

The Henley 2023 Passport Index: Lebanon Rank Improves From 2022 "IndyWatch Feed World"

The Lebanese Passport is still ranked among the worlds weakest passports but it has been slightly improving since 2020. In fact, our passport ranked 94th this year out of 104 countries according to the Henley Passport Index vs. 103rd in 2022 and 107th in 2021. While the Lebanese passport only gave us access to 40 countries without the need for a visa, the number jumped to 43 in 2023.

I dont know which countries exactly were added to that list, but any improvement is more than welcome. On the other hand, the passport remains one of the most expensive in the world.

Arak Al Sharm**** Courtesy of a Lebanese Street Food Place in India "IndyWatch Feed World"

Theres a Lebanese street food place in Goa, India called Habibi that prides itself as being the creator of the Sharmouta wrap . The wrap in question consists of Zaatar, Labneh and Falafel with fresh vegetables, which is not that shocking of a mix to be honest. What caught my attention though was how the menu spells Zaatar as Zaater and Labne as Labane or Labna, and more specifically another item on the menu called the 420 Chicken Shawarma; I wonder whats in that mix.

Habibi also has its own Arak, dubbed Arak Al Sharmouta with the slogan And they drank happily ever after. Ive never heard of Arak making in India but Im intrigued to try it out. Worse case, if it tastes bad, the bottle is one of a kind thats for sure .
