It Was Like a Nightmare: A Palestinian Horror Story Written in Israel SPECIAL REPORT Articles Archives - Palestine Chronicle

None of the Jenin camps residents managed to sleep all night, due to the sounds of the shells, which rained down on their buildings.

Muhammad al-Saadi kissed his three children before going to bed and promised them to go on a short trip this summer.

On that Sunday evening, al-Saadi children fell asleep following a long conversation about their summer plans.

A few hours later, the Israeli army invaded Jenin, along with the familys neighborhood in the refugee camp, located in the northern West Bank.

The sounds of gunfire began to shake the walls of the camp by the early hours of Monday, July 3.

The three children woke up terrified, so their father tried to calm them down. He couldnt.

None of the camps residents managed to sleep all night, due to the sounds of the shells, which rained down on their buildings. Everyone was afraid of what Israel had planned for the camp.

The Israeli violence continued throughout the morning hours.

All that Muhammad al-Saadi cared about was securing his family and protecting them from danger.

He was also concerned for his neighbors.

Due to the intensity of the Israeli bombing, he asked his neighbors on the second floor to come down and stay in his house so that they wouldnt be harmed.

We read on social media that the Israeli soldiers stormed the camp and raided the houses one by one. In fact, we heard their voices in the houses next to us, so we were waiting for our turn, al-Saadi told The Palestine Chronicle.

Finally, the soldiers arrived, but not the way the al-Saadi family had expected.

A Day at the Beach for Gazas Autistic Children Articles Archives - Palestine Chronicle

Many autistic children participated in the camp and its many activities, including drawing, building sand castles, and learning how to swim.

A summer camp dedicated to autistic people was held on the Gaza beach on Sunday.

Many autistic children participated in the camp and its many activities, including drawing, building sand castles, and learning how to swim.

Several swimming coaches volunteered to teach the children how to overcome their fear of the water.

Other volunteers helped in the various activities, bringing much joy to the young participants.

The Gaza Strip has been living under a hermetic Israeli siege since 2006.

This has resulted in numerous hardships including a lack of well-equipped medical facilities and even life-saving medicine.

Most of Gazas population has never been allowed to leave the besieged and impoverished Strip, not even to the better-equipped hospitals in the West Bank.

But the Gaza Sea continues to serve as an outlet, bringing joy to many communities that continue to reel under the impact of the Israeli blockade and many deadly wars.

In Photos, a Palestinian Familys Daily Quest for Water Articles Archives - Palestine Chronicle

Palestinians living in the village of Umm Al-Naser in the northern Gaza Strip, walk long distances to reach places where water is available.

It is not easy to obtain water in the village of Umm Al-Naser in the northern Gaza Strip.

There is simply no running water in this place, hosting one of Gazas poorest populations.

So to obtain water, especially during extremely hot weather, which is felt throughout much of the Middle East, in fact, the world, people here simply have to travel.

They walk long distances, on foot, or on donkey carts, to reach places where water is available.

Once they fill up small water containers for cooking and tea, the kids bathe and enjoy themselves almost unaware of their own hardship.

The Palestine Chronicle joined a family from Umm Al-Nasr in its daily quest for water.

This journey highlights the problem of water shortage in Palestine due to the Israeli siege and occupation.

It also highlights the unequal distribution of water facilities, which neglects isolated and impoverished areas.

And finally, it highlights the resilience of Palestinian families and the innocence of their children, who found joy in things most people take for granted; for example, water.

From ICC to Sportswashing: Wests Self-Serving Narratives Must Be Combated Articles Archives - Palestine Chronicle

Now that we are on the cusp of a new world order, we must confront this hypocrisy with the clearest language and action possible.

In March, the South Africa Communist Party (SACP) denounced what it described as the imperialist bias of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The denunciation of the ICC as a supranational institution at the service of imperialist states came two days after the Hague-based court issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and another Russian official for alleged war crimes in Ukraine.

The speed with which the case against Putin was lodged, discussed and followed by concrete action raised many questions about the integrity, balance and political agenda of the Western-inclined court.

While Palestinians immediately, and rightly, protested the hypocrisy of the ICC as it continues to treat alleged Israeli war criminals with kid gloves, Iraqis, Afghans, but mostly African activists and intellectuals found the ICCs moral inconsistency reprehensible.

In the 21 years of its existence, the ICC has not issued a single warrant of arrest for or prosecuted any United States or European president, prime minister or monarch as head of state, protested Africas oldest communist party, echoing the cries of numerous organizations, politicians and activists who, for years, pointed out that Africa has received the lions share of ICC investigations and arrest warrants.

Indeed, since its existence in 2002, the ICC has been fixated on Africa. As of June 2021, all 44 people indicted by the Court have been Africans, wrote Qumar Ba in Foreign Affairs, and ten out of its 14 active investigations involve Africa.

This argument is not intended as a blanket defense of Africa. Many alleged war crimes have been committed on the African continent in fact, in other regions in the Global South many of which a...

Palestinian Self-Determination Through the Lens of Lenin Articles Archives - Palestine Chronicle

We can understand some fundamental features of the Zionist settler-colonial project through Lenins teachings, specifically that Israel was founded and continues to exist on the basis of violating Palestinian self-determination.

Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (1870-1924) was an outstanding Marxist, revolutionary, and theorist. In addition to his immense historical role in the Russian Revolution, Lenin was one of the greatest thinkers of the 20th century.

His profound theories are invaluable to understanding the world today; in particular, Lenins writings on the right of nations to self-determination provide an indispensable tool for analyzing the question of Palestine from a Marxist perspective.

A Theoretical Outline

Lenin was a fierce advocate for the self-determination of all oppressed nations. His teachings on the topic, often in the form of theses and polemics, are where we can find brilliant analysis which can be abstracted and reapplied to contemporary Palestine. As in the totality of his thought, Lenin was immensely influenced by the writings of Marx and Engels on the national questions of their day.

He developed their positions to suit better the age of imperialism, i.e., the highest stage of capitalism, that the world had entered in the 1890s,  after the death of Marx and Engels. By the mid-1910s, Lenin staunchly argued for an anti-imperialist alliance between the working class in the advanced countries and national liberation movements in the colonies  and made sure to emphasize the ...

Visiting the Home of Mohammad Abu Khdeir Who Was Burned Alive by Israeli Settlers Articles Archives - Palestine Chronicle

Mohammed was a 16-year-old Palestinian boy, who was kidnapped on the morning of July 2, 2014, by illegal Israeli Jewish settlers, in East Jerusalem.

On the anniversary of Mohammed Abu Khdeirs murder, I returned to visit his parents in their house, in the Occupied East Jerusalem neighborhood of Shuafat.

Mohammed was a 16-year-old Palestinian boy, who was kidnapped on the morning of July 2, 2014, by illegal Israeli Jewish settlers, in East Jerusalem.

A few hours later, a charred body was found at the illegal settlement of Givat Shaul, in the Jerusalem Forest.

Mohammed had been beaten and burnt alive.

Humble Memorial

Soon after Mohammeds murder, his parents laid down a small memorial stone, surrounded by flowers.

A few months later, in September 2014, the Israeli police threatened to destroy the memorial.

For the Palestinian family, maintaining the humble memorial was a daily struggle.

The passage of time made the stone less brilliant and the inscription less legible.

Its been nine years already; can you believe it? Mohammeds father, Hussein Abu Khdeir, said, again and again.

It seems that the bereaved father himself still cannot believe it either or had not yet come to terms with his great loss.

We sat together in the living room, which has been turned into a memorial hall for Mohammed, whose presence is still felt throughout the house.

The Democratic rpresentative made the initial comment a day earlier at the Netroots Nation progressive conference in Chicago, which had been interrupted by pro-Palestine protesters.

"That the Palestinian people deserve self-determination and autonomy, that the dream of a two-state solution is slipping away from us, that it does not even feel possible," she added.

The comments were criticised by a number of Democrats, and were later withdrawn by Jayapal.

By now, the Marxist Biden Regime (which is 95 percent Zionist or Bolshevik-Zionist) has wholly succeeded in depleting the USAs stock of arms and ammunitions, by using the ploy of the Ukraine War and by collapsing the supply chains (notably from China) so that the USA will soon have great difficulty in replenishing its stocks of arms and ammunition.

In the plan of the satanic CHABAD, the age of the Antichrist is intended to coincide with the genocide of most Christians.

by Patrick OCarroll (henrymakow.com)

In 1968, Gen. Jan Sejna tipped off Czech leader Alexander Dubcek that Russia was about to invade Czechoslovakia; then Sejna promptly defected to the USA (via the US Consulate in Trieste-Italy) to become one of the most prominent Eastern Bloc functionaries to ever defect during the entirety of the staged cold war. Sejna later became a counterintelligence analyst for the Central Lack-Of-Intelligence Agency (CIA) in Langley VA.

In his 1982 book We Will Bury You, Jan Sejna warned that communism was soon about to fake its own death by collapsing the Warsaw Pact but also by ultimately disarming the USA and NATO. In a way, Sejna was proven right, but with some reservations.

He was RIGHT about communism faking its own death but not going away: He was also RIGHT about communism disarming the USA:

By now, the Marxist Biden Regime (which is over 95 percent Zionist or Bolshevik-Zionist) has wholly succeeded in depleting the USAs stock of arms and ammunitions, by using the ploy of the Ukraine War and by collapsing the supply chains (notably from China) so that the USA will soon have great difficulty in replenishing its stocks of arms and ammunitions. The exhibition included works of art that were engraved and hand-printed, archaeological landmarks in the Gaza Strip, and postage stamps used in Palestine during previous eras.

Palestinian artists in the Gaza Strip held a fine art exhibition that simulates the history of Gaza City and its archaeological sites.

Twenty-eight artists participated in the exhibition, entitled Fragments of the City, which was held inside the French Cultural Center west of Gaza.

The exhibition included works of art that were engraved and hand-printed, archaeological landmarks in the Gaza Strip, and postage stamps used in Palestine during previous eras.

Among those landmarks are the Great Omari Mosque in Gaza City, Al-Sayyid Hashem Mosque in Al-Daraj neighborhood, Barquq Castle in Khan Yunis, the historic Al-Zawiya market, and other works that embody the history of the Gaza Strip.

We are displaying more than 100 works of art by 28 male and female artists who have completed their works using the technique of engraving and printing. Mohamed Al-Hajj, a local artist said.

With these works, we are trying to animate Gazas past along with the Strips archaeological monuments, he added.

The Economist Glamourises the Lions Den Terror Cell "IndyWatch Feed War"

Written by CAMERAs Karen Bekker

In much of the reporting about Israel and the Middle East, terrorist organisations are entirely absent. In a recent article in the Economist, however, terror groups are the focus but the effects of terrorism are glossed over, and the members are glamorised as if they were social media influencers. Inside the Lions Den: the West Banks Gen Z fighters, reads the headline, strangely applying a US marketing term, Gen Z, to terrorists halfway around the world. (July 7, 2023, by Ayman Oghanna.)

Consider, for example, this bizarre description of the Second Intifada:

When al-Ajoud was 14, in 2002, he and a friend were hit by a shell from an Israeli tank. Al-Ajoud survived but his friend was killed instantly. It was a formative event: Every fighter was inspired by the second intifada (uprising). At the time, Nablus was a centre of opposition. Armed and unarmed Palestinians jousted with the Israeli armys tanks, armoured personnel carriers and Apache helicopters. The Israelis imposed strict curfews and house-to-house searches. Thousands of Palestinians were arrested and many homes were destroyed.

The peace that followed was an unhappy one. Memories of Israeli violence lingered.

Theres no mention of the reason for Israels actions the many suicide bombings that caused so much devastation to Israeli civilians as well as to Americans such as Malki Roth and her family. Over 1,000 Israelis were killed, including teenagers in pizza shops and nightclubs. Nor does reporter Ayman Oghanna mention the fact that Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat started the Second Intifada intentionally, after rejecting the Camp David offer of an independent Palestinian state that would have included...

Three Israelis have been wounded in a shooting outside the occupied West Bank settlement of Tekoa, according to the Israeli army and emergency services.

A 35-year-old man was left in serious but stable condition, while two girls - a nine-year-old and 14-year-old - suffered mild injuries from shrapnel.

Israeli media said the three were from the nearby Nokdim settlement and were shot at while driving in their car.

The army said the attacker was in a car when they fired, and search was underway for the perpetrator and possible collaborators.

The attack comes amid an increase settler attacks and military raids on Palestinian cities, the latest of which targeted the Jenin refugee camp on 3 July.

Israeli militarys onslaught on Jenin amounts to war crime: Legal experts "ConflictWatch Feed Israel"

Press TV July 15, 2023

The Israeli militarys deadly raid on the Jenin refugee camp in the northern occupied West Bank fits into the parameters of war crimes under the Geneva Conventions, legal experts argue.

Susan Akram, a clinical professor at Boston Universitys School of Law, said the raid, which killed at least 12 Palestinians and wounded dozens more, clearly amounts to a war crime for a number of reasons, including intentionally attacking a civilian population and attacking medical units.

The Geneva Conventions include as war crimes during occupation, willful killings, willfully causing great suffering to an occupied population and extensive destruction of property not justified by military necessity, Akram said during a webinar hosted earlier this week by the Arab Center Washington, DC.

Weaponised Antisemitism Crushed the Political Left:  Now its the Cultural Lefts Turn "ConflictWatch Feed Israel"

What does it mean to be antisemitic in modern Britain? The answer seems ever more confusing.

We have reached the seemingly absurd point that a political leader famed for his anti-racism, a rock star whose most celebrated work focuses on the dangers of racism and fascism, and a renowned film maker committed to socially progressive causes are all now characterised as antisemites.

And in a further irony, those behind the accusations do not appear to have made a priority of anti-racism themselves not, at least, until it proved an effective means of defeating their political enemies.

And yet, the list of those supposedly exposed as antisemites often only by association keeps widening to include ever more unlikely targets.

That is especially true in the Labour Party, where even the vaguest ties with any of the three iconic left-wing figures noted above Jeremy Corbyn, Roger Waters and Ken Loach  can be grounds for disciplinary action.

One of the Labour Partys most successful politicians, Jamie Driscoll, North of Tyne mayor, was barred last month from standing for re-election after he shared a platform with Loach to talk about the Norths place in the directors films.

Not coincidentally, Driscoll has been described as the UKs most powerful Corbynista or supporter of Corbyns left-wing policies. The nadir in this process may have been reached at the Glastonbury Festival.

Back in 2017, Corbyn, then-Labour leader, was given top billing as he set out a new, inspirational vision for Britain. Six years on and organisers cancelled the screening of a film, Oh Jeremy Corbyn: The Big Lie, highlighting the sustained campaign to smear Corbyn as an antisemite and snuff out his left-wing agenda.

The decision was taken after pro-Israel pressure groups launched a campaign to smear the film as antisemitic. The festival decided showing it would cause division.

So what is going on?

To understand how we arrived at this dark moment, one in which seemingly anyone or anything can be cancelled as antisemitic, it is necessary to grapple with the terms constantly mutating meaning and the political uses this confusion is...

Anger has spread across the occupied Palestinian territories following the arrest of a prominent journalist by the Palestinian Authority's security forces.

MK expelled from Knesset for condemning Israel invasion of Jenin "ConflictWatch Feed Israel"

MEMO | July 14, 2023

The Hadash-Taal lists Chairman, Ayman Odeh, was forced out of the Knesset plenary last week during a vote on the Counterterrorism Law after condemning the Israeli attack on the Palestinian refugee camp of Jenin.

He said: People killed in Jenin. People wounded in Tel Aviv. A killed soldier. All of their blood is because of your damned occupation. Occupation blinds you. Power blinds you. You are not only acting like occupiers, you are acting like idiots.

His speech came just days after Israel concluded its largest military operation in Jenin in more than 20 years. At least 12 Palestinians were killed, including four children, and more than 140 were injured in the offensive, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The raid also left a massive trail of destruction across the West Bank city, with dozens of homes, vehicles, shops and utility lines destroyed.

Every action has a reaction. These are the rules of nature, added Odeh. Theres a reaction to the occupation, so there will be resistance. Resisting against occupation is legal. Occupation is illegal. Long live the Jenin! Long live the Palestinian people! Long live their resistance! Shame on you! Take me down!  But the Palestinian people will continue to fight!

In response, Almog Cohen from the far-right Otzma Yehudit Party, shouted: The blood of those murdered is on your hands; go to Gaza. The more terrorists we kill, the better.

It all came amidst the approval of the Counterterrorism Law, which specifies that anybody who expresses support for terrorists may face up to five years in prison.

Religious Zionist Party MK Zvi Sukkot introduced the bill to stop the probability test that is required today due to the seriousness of expressing solidarity or sympathy for an act of terror or its perpetrators.

Following MK Odehs criticism against the Israeli invasion of Jenin, Sukkot appealed to the Ethics Committee of the Knesset, Israel Police, and the Attorney General to open an investigation against the MK for expressing his support for the residents of Jenin.

PA troops arrest Palestinian journalist for criticizing political arrests "ConflictWatch Feed Israel"

The Cradle | July 14, 2023

Palestinian Authority (PA) forces arrested journalist Aqil Awawdeh on 13 July after he refuted a statement from PA officials claiming there are no political arrests in the occupied West Bank.

There is no case of arrest on the basis of political affiliation in the West Bank, and all that is being circulated about its existence are baseless rumors, the PA statement released on Thursday reads.

Moments later, Awawdeh took to social media to refute this claim, highlighting that students and journalists are arrested regularly for supporting the resistance.

Hours after posting this video, PA troops took Awawdeh from his workplace in Ramallah under charges of insulting the security services and leaders of Fatah. Officials have yet to issue a statement on his arrest.

At least 54 political prisoners are currently being held in PA prisons, as the PA regularly hands over detainees directly to the Israeli army, Resistance News Network reported via Telegram.

Two years ago, Awawdeh was severely beaten inside a police station after covering a protest against the PA.

As discontent with PA rule in the occupied West Bank continues to grow exponentially, officials have maintained their grip on power by violently silencing dissent and crushing popular mobilizations.

In June 2021, Palestinian activist Nizar Banat was beaten to death by PA troops for accusing the PA of corruption and criticizing Ramallahs security cooperation with the Israeli military. Last December, Banats family took the case to the International Criminal Court, accusing the PA of alleged war crimes and torture.

Last month, the repressive tactics of the PA once again made headlines following the violent arrest of student leader...

Israel's far-right administration has sanctioned unprecedented levels of construction in illegal settlements within the occupied West Bank in its first six months of power, Israeli anti-settlement watchdog Peace Now said on Thursday.

Israel has endorsed 12,855 housing units for settlers throughout the occupied West Bank since January, Peace Now said. It is the highest number the group has recorded since it started tracking such activity in 2012.

"In the past six months, the only sector that Israel has vigorously promoted is the settlement enterprise," Peace Now said in a statement.

According to the group, the Higher Planning Council (HPC) of Israel convened three times this year, with the objective of advancing construction proposals.

All Israeli settlements beyond the 1967 borders are illegal under international law.

According to the United Nations, nearly 700,000 settlers live in 279 settlements across the West Bank and East Jerusalem, up from 520,000 in 2012.

Three more progressive US lawmakers have announced their intentions to boycott Israeli President Isaac Herzog's address to a joint session of Congress next week, after Congresswoman Ilhan Omar announced there would be "no way in hell" she would be in attendance.

Congressman Jamaal Bowman told Axios on Thursday that he is "probably going to be boycotting" Herzog's speech, and Alexandria Ocasio Cortez told the news site she is not planning to attend the event.

Congresswoman Cori Bush of Missouri also announced she would not be attending, saying that "Congress should not be giving a platform to the president of a country that shows no respect for human rights".

The lawmakers are snubbing the speech because of Israel's treatment of Palestinians. A number of international and Israeli human rights groups, as well as experts and the UN, have labelled Israel's treatment of Palestinians as apartheid and the latest operation in Jenin a "war crime".

Palestinians have also witnessed heightened violence this year from Israeli forces and settler groups. More than 170 Palestinians have been killed both by these settle...

1) MEMRI reports on a recent spat between the Palestinian Authority and Al Jazeera.

Fatah and PA spokespersons accused Al-Jazeera of waging a campaign of incitement and slander against the PA in the service of Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. The PAs clash with Al-Jazeera came to a head when  Nabil Abu Rudeineh, the PAs presidency spokesperson and information minister, sent a letter to the Al-Jazeera management threatening legal measures against the network. Articles in the PA press slammed Al-Jazeera, accusing it of serving the agenda of the Muslim Brotherhood, Islamist elements and Qatar and seeking to spark internal wars throughout the Arab and Islamic world.

Confrontational and often accusatory, Al-Mahatta, a Lebanese YouTube channel, is emerging as a de facto digital mouthpiece for Hezbollah. Its aim is to consolidate its influence by gaining a broader digital audience while continuing to cater to its well-established constituency in Lebanon.

The success of this channel should come as no surprise, as many members of Al-Mahattas team are either originally from or still affiliated with Al Akhbara Beirut-based, daily leftist Arabic newspaper widely regarded as a mouthpiece for Hezbollah.

The UK's Home Office has denied a group of Palestinian schoolchildren entry visas to visit the English town of Bolton as part of an initiative led by a local schoolteacher.

The children are from the Askar refugee camp in the north of the occupied West Bank, whose residents' grandparents were expelled or fled in 1948 from towns and villages inside what is now Israel.

The students are aged between 11 and 17 years-old, according to the Bolton News, and some of them had already visited the town and the northwest of England a number of times as part of previous organised trips.

The teacher who helped plan the trip, Julia Simpkins, who is also secretary of the Bolton branch of the National Union of Teachers (NUT), said the Palestinian children were regular visitors to the town.

"The reason they gave for not giving them the visas is that they say they werent sure that they would return home at the end of the visit," she told the Bolton News.

BBCs Bateman misleads on location of PFLP shooting attack "ConflictWatch Feed Israel"

On July 7th a report by the BBC Jerusalem bureaus Tom Bateman appeared on the BBC News websites Middle East page.

Despite the fact that the opening paragraph of that report informs readers that it concerns two Palestinian militants, the BBC nevertheless chose to airbrush that terror context out of its headline: Nablus: Two Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in West Bank.

Readers are told that:

Two Palestinian militants have been shot dead by Israeli forces during a raid in the occupied West Bank, as tensions surge in the region.

On Friday morning locals reported hearing heavy gunfire as Israeli troops surrounded a house in Nablus.

The men killed have been named locally as Khayri Shahin, 34, and Hamze Maqbool, 32.

Israel said they were wanted gunmen who fired on their forces before they could be detained.

Notwithstanding the BBCs long-standing refusal to describe Palestinian terrorism as such in its own words, Bateman had no qualms about promoting the talking points of a terrorist organisation proscribed by the UK:

The Palestinian militant group Hamas described the men as heroes of the resistance and accused Israel of terrorism. [emphasis added]

Readers are later told that:

Legal experts have said that Israel's military operation in Jenin earlier this month, which killed 12 Palestinians and wounded 100 others, fits into the parameters of war crimes under the Geneva Conventions.

Susan Akram, a clinical professor at Boston University's School of Law, said the raid on Jenin clearly amounts to war crimes for a number of reasons, including intentionally attacking a civilian population and attacking medical units.

"The Geneva Conventions include as war crimes during occupation, willful killings, willfully causing great suffering to an occupied population and extensive destruction of property not justified by military necessity," Akram said during a webinar on Thursday hosted by the Arab Center Washington, DC.

"There's no doubt that what Israel carried out in Jenin constitutes war crimes."

The other panelists on the webinar, Daniel Levy of the US/Middle East Project and journalist Dalia Hatuqa, agreed that Israel's actions in the West Bank amount to war crimes.

Mass protests against the Israeli government's judicial reforms swept Israel on Tuesday, with highways leading to Jerusalem, Haifa and Tel Aviv blocked by protesters on a day of disruption, as organisers billed it.

Demonstrators rallied against the Israeli parliament proceeding with a key part of the government's judicial overhaul programme, which aims to radically constrain the independence and powers of the judiciary.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to press ahead with the legislation, which critics say would politicise the judiciary despite widespread opposition.

Israeli police announced that at least 66 protesters across the country were arrested on suspicion of disturbing public order.

The latest bill, which needs another two readings to become law, would see the abolition of the reasonableness standard, eliminating the Supreme Court's ability to block government decisions it deems unreasonable.

Police used water cannons to clear protesters blocking a main highway leading into Jerusalem. In Haifa, demonstrators blocked a major highway, unfurlin...

Israeli forces removed a Palestinian family from their home in occupied East Jerusalem early on Tuesday morning to make way for settler groups to take it over.

Around 20 heavily armed officers stormed the house in the Old City at dawn, forcing the current residents, the Sub Laban family, out of the building they have lived in for 70 years.

Mustafa Sub Laban, 72, was inside the house when officers arrived, while his wife, Nora Sub Laban, 68, was outside.

The house is located in Aqabat al-Khalidiya neighbourhood, near al-Aqsa Mosque.

They [Israeli forces] dont know democracy... They are a government of criminals, thieves who have stolen everything from us, Nora told local media after returning to her home to find it seized by police.

According to local media, eyewitnesses reported that Israeli forces, who were reinforced with special units, set up military checkpoints around the neighbourhood and surrounded the family home before storming it.
