Members of Lebanon's Hezbollah movement were wounded on Wednesday in an explosion on the southern border with Israel, according to media reports.

Sources told Reuters the men were wounded in an "attack" and a security source told AFP the injuries were from "Israeli fire".

Initial reports from local media state that three members of Hezbollah were wounded in the incident.

The Israeli army said it foiled an attempt by Lebanese men to damage the border fence.

However, the Israeli news site Ynet said that Israeli troops had used "non-lethal" means to drive the men away.

There was no immediate comment from Hezbollah.

According to Al Jazeera, the group is now conducting an investigation with the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (Unifil) to determine the source of the blast.

Israel's public broadcaster Kan said earlier that a group of Hezbollah men had set a fire at the border, setting off landmines, and that Israeli troops had fired warning shots during the incident.

An Israeli army spokesperson said in a statement that several individuals holding Hezbollah flags were seen firing flares towards Israel, and that the army pushed them...

On 20 January, three suicide drones targeted al-Tanf, a military base in southeastern Syria hosting US forces.

The attack didn't cause significant losses: the troops there shot down two of the drones, while the third exploded after colliding with a building belonging to an allied Syrian rebel group, US forces said at the time.

Two days later, an unknown armed group called "the Inheritors" claimed responsibility.

Its statement, published by websites linked to Iranian-backed armed factions, was adorned with a green title that read "Islamic Resistance in Iraq - Formation of the Inheritors".

"No one can ever stop our operations," the group said, dating the statement as the same day the operation was carried out.

Social media users say generative AI produced stereotypical and "racist" caricatures

A gallery of AI-generated images depicting Barbies from countries in the Middle East and around the globe has caught the attention of many - for all the wrong reasons.

In a now-viral article, media company Buzzfeed used generative AI to produce pictures of what the world-renowned doll would look like from 194 different countries.

While the pictures were lauded by some, many people took to social media to call the images culturally inappropriate, white-washed  and perpetuating racist tropes.

5000 years of civilization and all the tourism hype, the only image AI could generate was a Lebanese Barbie standing over the rubble? Even AI is not buying the economic recovery narrative, tweeted one user.

Still insensitive of @buzzfeedusa to publish such a tone-deaf image of our August 4 trauma [sic]," said another, referencing the 2020 blast that destroyed much of Beirut and left hundreds dead.

Tensions at the Lebanon and Israel border fence have become a daily concern since the Israeli army finished building a wall in July incorporating the northern part of Al-Ghajar village in the occupied Golan Heights.

Protests by Lebanese farmers, standoffs between Israeli and Lebanese soldiers, the firing of missiles and Israeli shelling of southern Lebanon have all been intensifying the situation since March.

In recent months, Israel has been building a wall made of concrete blocks along part of the UN Blue Line that demarcated Lebanese and Israeli territory in 2000, when Israel ended its 20 years' occupation of south Lebanon.

The two countries remain foes, and no official border separates them, except the Blue Line, which is made of blue barrels and runs from the Mediterranean to the Golan to the east.
